Hong Kong — A long-time member of the Members Church of God International (MCGI), who served for 24 years, has publicly declared his exit from the organization in a MCGI Hong Kong Chapter group chat, a move hailed as courageous, and unprecedented in the group’s history.
“Before, exiting members would quietly leave out of fear of retribution. Now, it’s becoming a cool thing to do and a badge of honor to proclaim it publicly,” said Rosa Rosal, co-founder of the Post-MCGI Society.
An example of this is Sis Nel Dimalanta, who livestreamed her farewell to MCGI while attending a worship service inside one of its local chapters.
The open declaration quickly went viral among MCGI members in Hong Kong and has begun trending across overseas chapters. Many praised the former servant’s boldness to speak out despite the risk of backlash from fellow members and church workers.

Here’s the English translation of the farewell message from the former MCGI officer shown in the image:
Bro. Sam (12:54 AM): Brethren, I will be exiting from MCGI. My decision to leave is my own and is based on personal reasons. I hope you will respect that.
I thank God that I was able to be with you for some time here in Hong Kong. I pray for everyone’s well-being. Let us read and truly understand what is written in the Bible. May God grant us joy and peace.
Thank you very much to God! This will be my last message.
Bro. Sam
While the brethren cited "personal reasons", out of courtesy, as the reason of his exit, a survey by the Post-MCGI Society reveal recurring issues such as the financial exploitation of OFWs, repression and control over members, and money laundering activities involving MCGI ministers are the core reasons behind the decisions of most Ex-MCGI members to finally break away.
As expected, some fanatics and church workers dismissed the act, labeling the exiter as a “tiktik (spy).” However, this claim was widely mocked as “ridiculous and outdated,” especially considering the individual’s 24 years of faithful service within the organization.
“If that person were a spy, why did it take 24 years to leave? This only proves that even those who once served at the heart of the system can awaken and choose truth,” said Jr. Badong, former MCGI Church Worker and now a leading voice of MCGI Exiters.

Here’s the English translation of the church worker’s message in the image:
Prince (2:27 AM): Brethren, is that new to us?
There really is something like that written in the Bible.
Galatians 2:4 (ADB) “And this happened because some false brothers had secretly infiltrated to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus, in order to enslave us again.”
Let’s just continue doing the work. It’s a waste of time to think about who that person might be.
The event has since inspired a new wave of resignations and silent dissent among long-time members who have grown weary of MCGI corruption and coercion. Observers note that the leadership’s grip on overseas brethren, once seen as unshakable, is now weakening fast.
Reports indicate that the MCGI administration is trembling amid this unstoppable trend of public exits, as more insiders and former officers begin to speak up. Meanwhile, the Exiters community celebrates the growing courage among members reclaiming their freedom and dignity.
“Welcome to freedom,” said former MCGI Church Worker and Razon Family aid Jr. Badong in a statement. “The fastest way to heal is to become an instrument for someone else’s exit.”
